As a way of constantly improving security for our clients, ThinkMarkets has introduced a one-time password verification (OTP) feature for an extra verification step.

Clients are now able to request a one-time password to input into ThinkPortal, to verify they are speaking to an official team member of ThinkMarkets over the phone.

With fraudulent calls becoming common among online traders, the security of your information is paramount to us. If you receive a call from a representative of ThinkMarkets, you now have the option of requesting an OTP from the caller. Upon this request, an OTP will be sent via SMS, which you can then input into ThinkPortal to validate the caller.

How to use one-time password verification (OTP)

When speaking to ThinkMarkets, request the OTP to be sent over the phone.

Wait for the OTP to be sent to you via SMS.

Login to your ThinkPortal account.

Go to Profile > Security > One Time Password verification.

Enter the verification code to confirm authenticity.

We strongly recommend you request an OTP verification if you receive any calls to protect your personal information.

What to look out for

Some fraudulent callers will try and work around the extra verification step using various methods and excuses, below are some examples you need to look out for:

If you ask for an OTP and the caller is unable to provide one.

If the caller tries to give you an OTP verbally over the phone instead of SMS.

If the caller says you can confirm the OTP over the phone and not on ThinkPortal.

If you receive an SMS but are unable to verify using ThinkPortal.

We advise all our clients to be vigilant, and if any of the above examples occur or any similar situations, please hang up immediately and do not share any personal information.

Please report any suspicious activity to us via official channels such as emailing support@thinkmarkets.com or connecting to our live chat to speak to our client support team.

As a reminder, ThinkMarkets will never call you and ask for your login credentials, your OTP or request remote access to your computer or device.

ThinkMarkets is committed to keeping our clients safe when trading, learn more about staying safe online.
